2010-02-11 Lightning vs Bruins

Bruins vs Lightning

Loop's partner company gave us some box tickets to the Lightning vs Bruins hockey game tonight.  Eighteen of us went.  We left the office around 6:30pm and got dinner at Moe's.

Most of us weren't really hockey fans.  And the first period wasn't too much fun as the Bruins took a 4-0 lead.  By the middle of the second period we were down 5-0.  Things were looking bad and we were in trouble of getting skunk.  But then things turned around and we scored 2 points in the second period.  And two more in the third.
In the last minutes, everybody was standing up, cheering the Lightning on for an improbable come back story.  Alas, the game ended 5-4.  And we lost.  It turned out to be a much better game than I thought.
Lots of fun.  Thanks Steve!

Fire Alarm at Loop

We had another fire alarm at work today.  This time isn't not a drill or somebody pulling it.  It actually went off from some smoke.  I heard somebody said it was a burnt cake on 5th floor...

We had to take the stairs down 11 flights.  On the way up, there were too many people, so some of us took the stairs back up, too.  Quite a feat!  We also got some pictures with the fire fighter, w00t!

2009 Loop Award

After I came back from vacation, I got some surprises at work.  Apparently I received one of the Loop's 2009 Top Performer awards (and a sack of money)!  This is a proof for you guys that I actually do work =)

I also got a nice Loop sweater and Christmas bonus.  Very cool!

2009 Loop Halloween Party

Steve, Loop's owner, had a party at his house.  It was really cool.  His brother owns an animatronics company, and helped out.  The whole house looked like it could have been a part of Hallo-Scream.

A lot of people showed up in many cool costumes.  Jessica and I showed up as a hippy couple.  Jessica's was a real hippy dress.  Her mom hand sewed the dress back in the 70's.  So it's authentic!

Howl O Scream 2009

Loop took us out to Howl O Scream 2009 at Busch Gardens for our 500 Dealers mark.  We had the group specials where dinner was included, and we get to go into the park about an hour before it opens for general public.  We also got a special pass to skip the line up to an hour after they open for general public.

We hit most of the haunted houses first.  They were pretty neat, but not as scary as I thought they'd be.  We also went on a few roller coaster rides.  The lines were quite short.

Lightning at Clearwater Beach

Another cool picture from my office.  There was a heavy lightning storm.  So many that I was able to time it and catch one on camera.

Rain Storm at Clearwater Beach

I took this picture from Loop office in Clearwater.  It can look like the water's being sucked up into the sky!

Sky Diving!

For Christmas bonus this year, my job sent us sky diving at www.SkyDiveCity.com today.  There were eight of us who jumped.  It was an incredible experience.

I wasn't really nervous until the door opened and other people started disappearing.  By the time I got to the door and looked out, my body instinctively screamed (inside my head, of course) at me that this situation is definitely not normal!

The first few seconds was extreme, feeling the fall, and going out into the open.  But after I reached my terminal velocity, I couldn't feel "the falling" anymore.  It was just lots of wind after that.

When the parachute opened, we slowed down so much that it didn't even feel like we were descending.  The ground didn't look like it was getting any closer.  But the view was awesome.

My tandem person (Tom) did a great job, and we had a nice soft landing.  Overall, it was an experience of a life time =)

Christmas Party 2008

Went to work Christmas party with Jessica tonight.  It was at the company owner's house.  It was recently just completed, and sits on the water at Clearwater, FL.  Tonight was full moon too.  So the view over the water was very pretty.

We played some get-to-know-people game, and had a White Elephant gift exchange.  I brought a remote control helicopter, which turned out to be pretty popular.  It got stolen three times (max), and was taken out and flew around afterward.  I got a light saber.  Pretty cool.

Other notable items were

  • A jar of cheese balls, iTunes giftcard, and a pack of toilet papers
  • The Leg-Lamp from the Christmas Story
  • 24-boxes of Cheezit!
All in all, it was a lot of fun.  And we all ended the night with a future trip to sky diving!

Merry Christmas!
